Raw materials purification protocols design
Objective: to select the most adequate sources for the selected material (biopolymers and inorganic) that will be used in the fabrication of the prototypes for both case studies. Validation of the purifications’ protocols considering reproducibility, efficiency, yield, cost, conversion of wastes into secondary raw materials, green chemistry approach, absence of contaminants, absence of toxins, so obtaining a medical grade biomaterial. Encourages ESRs to investigate the procedures for a medical grade biomaterial
preparation and commercialization starting from natural resources/waste.
Biofunctionalization
Objective: analysis of the considered pathologies/tissue damages mechanisms and evaluation of the devices currently used in clinics and their limitations.
A survey of medicinal plants from Asia (mainly Mongolian) traditional medicine prescription, concentrating on those species likely to be of importance in medicine or as food and nutrition products and selection of bioactive natural compounds according to the final application, considering mainly commercial tested products.
Protocols design for bioactive molecules conjugation/loading/release with purified biopolymers or after scaffold fabrication.
